Summary
Subject deals with basic knowledge of microprocessor technics. In the subject there is very important to know electronics, analog and digital technics.
Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit
Main target of the subject is to obtain theoretical knowledge of microprocessor technics and practical experiences with design and applications of microcomputer control systems. Obtained knowledge is a part of general knowledge of electrical engineer especially if he deals with applications of electric drives and their control.
Course Contents
Lectures:
Logical levels, connection between control elements and integrated circuits (IC), Input and output circuits for signal adjustment.
Microcontroller architectures.
Microcontroller bus, fundamentals of common bus, basic types of bus transfer.
Communication of microcontroller and periphery, typical courses of I/O operations, I/O addressing.
Data transfer between microcontroller and periphery, serial transfer, transfer errors and their attention.
I/O integrated circuits. Counters, circuits for serial transfer. RWM, PROM, EPROM memory. PAL, GAL.
Communication of microcontroller and analog periphery, analog input, analog output. Design of communication with analog signals.
Summary of 8-bit microprocessors, characteristics, applications.
Single-chip microcontrollers and their characteristics. Microcontroller Intel 8051, architecture, memory space, ALU.
Microcontroller Intel 8051, interrupts, periphery.
Introduction to 16-bit microprocessors and microcontrollers.
Applications of microcomputer system for control of electric drives.

Exercises:
Repetition - logical circuits, application of sequential circuits in microprocessor technics. Entrance test.
Input and output circuits for signal adjustment, clock generators.
Test No. 1. - Repetition, means for memory and PAL, GAL programming.
Design of application software, communication with superior system.
Test No. 2.

Laboratories:
Circuits for pulse cutting - laboratory exercise.
Bus circuits - laboratory exercise.
Simple address decoders - laboratory exercise.
Application of MAX 232 converter for serial transfer - laboratory exercise.
Design of A/D converter - laboratory exercise.

Projects:
Results processing of laboratory exercises (total 10 hours).
