Summary
Introduction into theory and practical applications of commonly used transport
equipments. Classification and properties of transported materials.
Fundamental
calculations of capacity, output, forces etc. of conveying machines, their
description, principles of work and practical applications.
Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit
To master fundamental principles of transport and handling equipment in common use. To become acquainted with the basic of their design and technology calculations. To become also acquainted with transported materials, their classification, properties and storage.
Course Contents
To master the basic principles of the function of commonly used transport equipment and means and handling techniques. To get acquainted with the fundamentals of their design and technological calculations. Part of the lesson is also familiar with the materials transported, their sorting, properties and storage.

Examination and state examination questions

1. Classification of transported materials. Mechanical properties of particulate materials.
2. Classification pf transport. Calculation of carrying capacity.
3. Equation of motion.
4. Methods of transfer of tensile forces.
5. Analyses of tension forces in endless tensile element - graphical - numerical method.
6. Tensile elements - ropes, chains and conveyor belts. Construction.
7. Construction and calculation of particulate material silos.
8. Silo closures and feeders.
9. Belt conveyor, principle, division and main parts.
10. Technological equipment of belt conveyor.
11. Theory and basic calculation of belt conveyor. Standard ČSN ISO 5048.
12. Bucket conveyor - construction, main parts, calculation.
13. Apron conveyor - construction, basics of chain conveyor calculation.
14. Scraper conveyor - construction, basics of chain conveyor calculation.
15. En-Masse conveyor - construction, basics of chain conveyor calculation.
16. Vibratory conveyor - scheme, possibilities of excitation of vibrations, calculation of basic parameters of vibrating conveyor.
17. Screw conveyor - construction, division, simplified calculation of screw conveyor parameters.
18. Transport by gravity - chutes, troughs and gravity roller conveyors.
19. Driven roller conveyors - construction, methods of drive, basic calculation - resistance to movement.
20. Lifts - division, construction and main parts, calculation of safety coefficient of ropes and checking of frictional abilities.
