Summary
The contents of this course builds on objects Foundations Engineering and Foundation Engineering in Difficult Conditions, which further deepens and applied to specific situations occurring in practical problems.
Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit
Graduates of this course postgraduate studies must be able to design and
assessing different types of geotechnical structures under different conditions.
Course Contents
Survey for construction purposes, the classification of the foundation engineering. Categorization foundation conditions, factors determining the design of foundations, spread footings, deep foundations. Calculation of bearing capacity and deformation, conditions of foundation, foundation in special conditions. Methods for editing the properties of the subsoil, embankments and control the compaction of foundation pit, monitoring of foundations and subsoil. Interaction "foundation-subsoil". Strength and deformation properties of rocks in relation to the foundation and its subsoil. Stress in the subsoil , solution methods determining factors. The effect of horizontal forces and the forces acting within the continuum of surcharge surface, the initial stress, the stress under deep foundations. Deformation of rocks and soil under the foundation.
The theory of consolidation of soils. Limit states foundations. Foundation pits and their stability. Earth pressures on structures. Method -dependent pressures. Methods for calculating anchoring construction pits. Monitoring the behavior of the subsoil.
