Summary
The course is focused on the application possibilities of MS Office software products and 3D modeler ANSYS DesignModeler in technology of steel production and casting. Students obtain the theoretical and practical knowledge in CAD systems, they adopts the principle of geometry modelling. On the basis of technological aims, graduates will be able to separately design specific dimensions of ingot moulds for casting of steel ingots, to create of casting geometry, to prepare the technological parameters of casting (casting temperature, casting speed, etc.) and handle such casting technology. And all with the use of modern computer applications.
Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit
Acquired knowledge
- student will be able to describe the technology of steel production from the primary production, through the its processing in secondary metallurgy equipment up to the own casting
- student will be able to characterize the basic principles of numerical modelling of metallurgical processes

Acquired skills
- the student will be able to practically implement the creation of 3D geometry of the studied system in the CAD system ANSYS DesignModeler
- student will be able to apply the methods of metallurgical calculations and to determine the necessary computational parameters of numerical model of steel flow, steel casting or steel solidification.
