Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit |

Student will be able to:
- formulate the basic concepts and relations of the issue of air protection
- Improve existing knowledge gained from the course environmental protection and environmental legislation
- to demonstrate their acquired knowledge into practice
- to analyze problems concerning the various activities associated with protective atmosphere
- to properly present and formulate their knowledge.
- to define the basic concepts associated with protection and management of air quality
- to characterize air pollutants
- to characterize and categorize the sources of air pollution
- to determine the technical and organizational measures for air pollution sources
- to navigate in legislation related to the issue of air protection
- to apply theoretical knowledge of mathematical modeling of dispersion of pollutants in the air.

Course Contents |
---|
1. Air. Basic concepts and characteristics. Pollution and air pollution. Air Protection.
2. Air pollutants. Breakdown of pollutants. Solid and liquid pollutants. Gaseous pollutants. Pollutants from a global perspective.
3. Classification of pollution sources. Pollution of natural and anthropogenic origin. The concept of air pollution sources. Mobile sources of air pollution. Global estimates of emissions.
4. The main industrial emitters in the country. Production of energy. Industrial Technologies, (metallurgy, production of non-ferrous metals, building materials industry). Services company.
5. Technical abatement opportunities. Technical measures at sources. Device for trapping particulate emissions. Capture dust, mechanical separators, electric separators, filters.
6. Capture and disposal of gaseous pollutants, removal of acidic substances, reducing emissions of nitrogen oxides. Polishing agents on charcoal.
7. Air protection legislation. Act no. 201/2012 Coll., On air protection. Related legislation (government regulations and decrees).
8. Dispersion of pollutants. Methodology for determining the scattering ZL. Mathematical models of the spread of ZL.
9. Analytic Methods in air protection. Methods for measuring particulate emissions. Methods for measuring emissions of gaseous pollutants. Organization measurements. Air Quality Information System (AQIS). |
