Fuel, types, fuel sources and theirs consumption. Solid fuels and theirs properties. Characteristic of liquid and gaseous fuels. Energy value of fuel, high heating value, low heating value. Combustion statics of solid/liquid/gaseous fuels. Air excess coefficient. Imperfect combustion. Ostwald’s triangle. Formation of pollutants. Formation and reduction of NOX, SO2, CO, CO2 and solid particles. Main types of combustion facilities. Combustion efficiency and efficiency of combustion facilities. |
Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit |

Students will get knowledge about properties of fuels, combustion statics, types of combustion facilities and pollutants which are produced by combustion. |
Course Contents |
---|
It summarises and deepens the knowledge of fuel energy parameters, and combustion balance calculations, and completes them by basics of combustion kinetics. Issues of harmful substance formation by combustion, inclusive CO2 abatement, follow. |
