The General IT Support

At VSB-TUO you will enjoy excellent teaching facilities, well-equipped lecture rooms and laboratories as well as modern computer rooms, study rooms and a well-appointed library.

Wireless Local Area Network offers the students the possibility to connect to the internet with their laptop computer anywhere on campus. There are computer rooms in the Halls of residence area as well as in the University buildings for students. For access to computer rooms it is necessary to use a student card. Internet connection has been upgraded, so students can have access to internet pages directly from their rooms using their own notebooks or computers.

All students have free access to the internet and email. Every student accepted to study at VSB - Technical University of Ostrava is provided with his own University email address.

The Central Library

The Central Library offers access to a wide range of resources to support teaching, learning and research at VSB - TU Ostrava. The stock there consists of some 400,000 items (books, periodicals, standards, theses and dissertation, and other material). The Library provides access to the information resources required by members of the University for learning, teaching and research. There is a wealth of material to support learning and research, both print and electronic. Many resources are accessible off-campus via the Internet.

The Central Library is situated at the main building at the University campus in Poruba, and additional libraries are located at each faculty. 

The Department of Foreign Languages

The Department of Foreign Languages of VSB-TUO has been established to assist all international students while studying at the university. The teachers can help solve the problems concerning language study as well as other possible cases.

Students can take the advantage of using the computer room situated in Building B, room B 206. There is a wide choice of language software in five languages at students’ disposal for individual work.

Also the Department of Foreign Languages of VSB-TUO is an approved ETS Certified Test Administration Site for TOEFL Internet-based tests (iBT).
