Important information about Coronavirus

For students:

From 11 March 2020, the personal participation of all students in the class will be cancelled until further notice. You will be informed about the substitution of tuition as well as the next steps by e-mail.

Prohibition of personal participation of students in the University premises includes both tuition (e.g. in the form of lectures, seminars or consultations) and taking examinations.

For employees:

In accordance with the Resolution of the Government of the Czech Republic of 15 March 2020 No. 215 on the adoption of a crisis measure, the Rector obliges VSB-TUO staff to use the possibility of home office to the largest extent possible if employees can perform work at their place of residence, namely from 17 March 2020 to 31 March 31 2020, inclusive. The Rector's order lasts until 30 April 2020.

From 11 March 2020, the personal participation of all students in the class will be cancelled until further notice.

Information for teachers about the possibilities of online teaching

In connection with the Government measures, all events of more than 30 people held on the premises of VSB-TUO, event. organized by VSB-TUO, are cancelled with immediate effect.

For all:

From 13 March 2020, rector imposes a ban on entry for all foreigners coming from risk areas to the premises of all VSB-TUO campuses, with the exception of foreigners staying temporarily over 90 days or permanent residence in the Czech Republic.

During the period from 17th March to 30 April 2020 the following restrictions will apply at the University:

  • the buildings will be closed, only the gatehouse with 24/7 operation will work (building A, EKF, FAST, FBI),
  • cafeterias and other catering facilities with the exception of the University canteen will be closed, opening hours of the canteen will be rescricted, it will not be possible to pay cash with immediate effect,
  • working hours of student dormitories will also be rescricted.

THE RECTOR’S ORDER in connection with the spread of coronavirus COVID-19

I. Introductory provisions

This order is issued in connection with the unfavourable development of the epidemiological situation in the occurrence of COVID-19 disease and in accordance with the request of the Regional Hygiene Station of the Moravian-Silesian Region dated 6 March 2020, delivered on 9 March 2020 for cooperation in reducing the risk of the coronavirus COVID-19 spread in the Czech Republic, for preventive action to slow down its spread and preventive protection for all citizens.

The measures below are effective until further notice by the Rector.

II. VSB-TUO staff

  1. The Rector hereby orders all employees in leading positions authorized to approve business trips to cancel their subordinate employees of VSB-TUO all already approved business trips abroad, and at the same time, forbids all employees in leading positions to approve their subordinate employees business trips abroad.
  2. Furthermore, the Rector strongly recommends VSB-TUO employees to postpone their private trips to the risk areas. At the same time, VSB-TUO employees are obliged to immediately notify their immediate superior of their intention to travel to the risk area.
  3. In the case of an employee’s private trip to risk areas, the employee is obliged to limit contact with VSB-TUO only to the communication on the telephone or in writing after returning from these countries. Where the nature of his/her work so permits, his/her immediate superior shall order that employee to work from home for 14 days after returning from the risk areas. If this is not possible, the absence of the employee at the workplace will be dealt with as an obstacle on the part of the employer for a period of 14 days after his/her return from the countries mentioned above.

III. VSB-TUO external staff

  1. When cooperating with external employees of VSB-TUO, the relevant employee of VSB-TUO, who ensures contact with the external worker, is obliged to ascertain whether the external worker has made a journey to the risk areas within the last 14 days. In such a case, it will be possible to make contact with VSB-TUO only by telephone or in writing for a period of 14 days from the return of the external employee from the above mentioned countries.

IV. Persons arriving from risk areas

  1. The Rector hereby suspends the arrivals of all the above-mentioned persons cooperating with VSB-TUO (conference participants, professional events, etc.) coming from the risk areas and those who stayed in the risk areas in the last 14 days.

V. VSB-TUO students

  1. The Rector hereby suspends the planning of arrivals of students coming from risk areas.
  2. Furthermore, the Rector strongly recommends VSB-TUO students to postpone their study and private trips to risk areas. Students of VSB-TUO are also obliged to immediately notify the relevant study office of the intention to make a trip to the risk area, and international students are obliged to notify the International Relations Department. At the same time, VSB-TUO students are obliged to notify the relevant study office or the Department of International Relations of their return from the risk areas within the last 14 days.
  3. In the case of a private trip of a VSB-TUO student to risk areas, the VSB-TUO student is obliged to limit contact with the VSB-TUO only to the communication by telephone or in writing for 14 days after returning.

VI. Final provisions

  1. If the persons referred to above have arrived in the Czech Republic from the risk areas and develop a feverish respiratory disease in the incubation period (i.e. within 14 days of arrival from the risk area), suspicion of the infection must be excluded. These persons are obliged to limit contact with others as much as possible, and contact the Regional Hygiene Station of the Moravian-Silesian Region, nonstop coronavirus line 112 without delay. In the case of returning from Italy, in accordance with the emergency measure of the Ministry of Health of 6 March 2020, ref. No. MZDR 503/2020-10/PRO, they have to contact their health care provider in the field of general practice medicine, or if they are not registered with a general practitioner, they have to contact any provider in the field of general practice medicine.
  2. Links are available on the InNET VSB-TUO to find up-to-date information related to the spread of coronavirus. At the same time, a special e-mail emergency@vsb.cz can be used for inquiries.
  3. All parts of VSB-TUO are obliged to inform employees and students about the content of this order immediately.
  4. Employees in leading positions are obliged to ensure demonstrable familiarization of their subordinates with this Rector’s order.
  5. Failure to comply with this Rector’s order may be considered as a criminal offense or an offense at certain points.
  6. This order shall enter into force on 10 March 2020.

The Ministry of Health of the Czech Republic recommends citizens returning from affected areas and showing symptoms of illness to contact their physician (in the first phase, preferably by telephone) and consult on next steps, and further, that citizens who decide to travel, register in the DROZD system (Voluntary Registration of Citizens of the Czech Republic when Travelling Abroad) https://drozd.mzv.cz/. It is an MICR system and it facilitates communication.
