Dear Colleagues,
As this academic year concludes, my time as Rector is also coming to a close. After two terms in office that have been both a professional challenge and a rewarding life experience, I am passing the leadership of the University to my successor, Prof. Igor Ivan. I am leaving with the assurance that the Academic Senate has selected a leader who, with commitment, vision, and respect for our traditions, will expand upon our collective achievements and guide our University to continued success in an ever-evolving world.
The last eight years have not always been easy. Together, we have encountered extraordinary challenges, but we have also celebrated many joyful and important milestones alongside these tough times. We have significantly increased the number of students, broadened our range of degree programmes, and strengthened our presence both in the Czech Republic and on the international academic stage. We have made notable advancements in the field of science, which was one of my primary objectives upon assuming my role. The University has welcomed new researchers from abroad, constructed new buildings, and upgraded existing facilities. We have improved conditions for both students and staff to facilitate their study and work.
I would like to express my heartfelt gratitude to each of you for your support, cooperation, and trust throughout my time in office. You, the University’s employees and students, are the driving force behind every achievement. Your daily efforts, dedication, and loyalty have been vital to the ongoing growth and progress of our institution.
It has been a privilege to lead VSB – Technical University of Ostrava. I wish you all great success and happiness in both your professional and personal lives.
