University representatives collected medals in the University Leagues, dominated numerous Czech Academic Championships, and achieved significant success on the international stage.
FOUR MEDALS FROM THE UNIVERSITY LEAGUES
Outstanding results came from the Univer sity Leagues, where VSB-TUO won a total of four medals. Gold medals were secured by the women‘s floorball team, which confirmed its position among the country‘s university elite, and by the golf team, which trium phed in the first-ever pilot edition of the university competition. Silver medals were won by the men‘s floorball team and the women‘s volleyball team, continuing the long tradition of strong performances by VSB-TUO university teams. Successful campaigns were also recorded by the basketball, football and futsal Teams.
CZECH UNIVERSITY GAMES BRING ANOTHER MEDAL HAUL
One of the highlights of the season was the 2026 Czech University Games, where VSB-TUO students once again demonstrated their sporting excellence. University representatives excelled across a wide range of sports and built upon their successful performances at the Czech Academic Championships.
Throughout the 2025/2026 academic year, 146 VSB-TUO students participated in the Czech Aca demic Championships. Their efforts resulted in 20 Czech championship titles and 20 gold medals.

Among the most outstanding athletes of the year was Jana Vašendová, who won an impressive three gold medals in table tennis.
SUCCESS BEYOND ACADEMIC COMPETITIONS
The sporting year also brought several notable achievements beyond university leagues and academic championships. In October, VSB-TUO celebrated victory in the traditional ice hockey derby. On the international stage, Michaela Kubeč ková (EKF, UNIS) attracted attention as captain of the Czech women‘s national floorball team. Martin Gattnar and Lukáš Fukala also left a significant mark on floorball by helping the Czech national team qualify for the World Championship. Athlete Milan Ščibráni competed at the World Championships as part of the Czech 4×400 m relay team, while Jana Vašendová represented the Czech Republic at the World Team Table Tennis Championships. Individual achievements across a variety of sports also drew attention. Jan Haladej made his mark in Formula 1 esports, Irena Smolíková won the World University Championship in Muay Thai, and Dan Koudelka became European Champion in sport shooting.
A YEAR TO REMEMBER
Four medals from the University Leagues, twenty Czech Academic Championship titles, 146 stu dent-athletes competing at academic champion ships, and numerous international achievements confirm that sport at VSB-TUO remains among the most successful university sports program mes in the Czech Republic. Without doubt, the 2025/2026 academic year will be remembered as one of the most successful sporting seasons in the university‘s modern history.
