Summary
The subject deals with refrigeration technique and heat pumps. Students gain
basic knowledges in theory of compressor and sorption refrigeration cycles,
environmental aspects of refrigerants. Further the use of heat pumps for low
potential heat utilization is taught.

Course Contents
1. Introduction, purpose of refrigeration systems and heat pums.
2. Methods of generation low temperatures, basic theory of refrigeration cycles. Compressor vapor cycle one-stage.
3. Binary mixtures. Heat transfer fluids.
4. Refrigerants - solving tools.
5. Properties of basic types of refrigerants.
6. Compressor vapor cycle, two stage, cascade.
7. Absorption cycle
8. Heat pumps - types
9. Characteristic of low potential heat sources for heat pumps. Usage of heat pumps.
