Summary
1. Decision-making fundamentals and the role of computerized decision-making support.
2. Managerial view on data and single version of truth - important aspects of the data integration and transformation.
3. Reporting and data analysis - importance of the visualization and common software tools of the MIS.
4. Big Data and its importance of the management - key sources and why do organizations need Big Data today.
5. Fundamentals of the MIS deployment planning - creation of a strategy and a feasibility study, role of the Chief Information Officer (CIO), benefits of deploying the MIS through cloud services.
Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit
Students will gain fundamental knowledge in the field of the use of management information systems (MIS) in the management of modern organizations. Students will be able to recognize key usage aspects of Business Intelligence systems to increase efficiency of decision-making processes. Students will also get a general overview of software tools related to this variant of computerized decision-making support. Students will also be able to recognize main aspects of the decison-making support based on reporting and data analysis. Students will also gain basic understanding of the background and importance of Big Data in today's management and what are currently main sources of Big Data. Students will also become familiar with fundamentals of- and selected current trends in the process of MIS deployment in the practice.
