Summary
Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit
The aim of the course is to teach students how to work with brownfields regeneration. Learning to perceive the whole process as a complex set of inputs and conditions that are typical for brownfields site. Students will learn how to evaluate the regeneration process from the point of view of different interest groups - past or future owners, representatives of the public, also citizens. It is a complement to the knowledge of the civil engineer and thus the improvement of his position on the labor market
Course Contents
1) Basic knowledge of brownfields definition, definition of basic terms, classification and categorization of brownfields
2) Actors in the brownfield regeneration process, their roles and tasks
3) Planning in brownfield regeneration process
4) Issues of sustainable development and brownfields, territorial development, influence of brownfields on the environment
5) Evidence of brownfields, examples of existing databases in the Czech Republic
6) Territorial and regional planning and brownfield regeneration process
7) Financing, financial resources and economic aspects and regeneration of brownfields
8) Environmental aspects related to the existence of brownfields, SEKM, types of surveys
9) Risk analysis and examples of possible remedial measures, prioritization - categories
10) Technical monuments and approaches to their use, examples from the Czech Republic and abroad.
11) Examples of successful brownfield regeneration from abroad, progress, financing, barriers, goals
12) Examples of successful regeneration of brownfields in the Czech Republic - process, financing, barriers, goals
13) Surveys of Buildings and Territories - Types of Surveys, Characteristics and Outputs,
14) Construction and technical survey - standard documents, implementation methodology
15) Defects and defects of structures, methods of their evaluation (destructive vs. non-destructive tests)
