Summary
The subject provides general information about the processing of waters. Attention is paid to the houses...). processing of various types of waters as well as to all technology processes that are used during the processing and production of drinking and special waters for various plants (heating plants, steam boiler feed water, technological water)
Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit
To inform the students about general technology processes used in the production of drinking water from processed surface and ground waters. To inform about the processing of water for industrial purposes, incl. special processing methods and measures taken in order to increase health safety of the water.
Course Contents
1. Composition and properties of natural waters. Quality requirements for drinking, service, service and bottled water.Water Supply Act.
2. Overview of technological processes in water treatment. Surface and groundwater treatment.
3. Suspension settling and thickening, process theory. Settling and thickening tanks, technological parameters.
4. Coagulation and flocculation, process theory, mixing, coagulants, water clarification, clarifier.
5. Water filtration, filtration mechanism, types of filters, technological parameters.
6. Groundwater treatment, CO2 forms, calcium-carbonate balance, water deacidification.
7. Iron and manganese in waters. Removal of iron and manganese. Process theory. Technological procedures and equipment.
8. Ion exchange, process theory, applications. Water softening, chemical processes.
9. Water treatment by membrane processes, modules. Elektrodialyza.
10. Hygienic water security. Physical and chemical methods of water disinfection.
11 Adsorption from aqueous solutions, process theory, use in water treatment.
12. Special processes, dechlorination, removal of radon, nitrates, fluoridation of water, corrosive and incremental effects of water.
13. Requirements for cooling, auxiliary, supply and boiler water quality.
